Cancel a flight

Cancelling a flight you no longer need is straightforward — but what you get back depends entirely on your fare type and when you cancel. Check these steps before you hit the cancel button.

  1. Check your fare rules first

Open your booking confirmation and read the cancellation conditions. Flexible fares refund most or all of the ticket; basic fares usually refund only taxes and fees.

  2. Decide before the deadline

Some fares must be cancelled before departure to retain any value at all. A no-show usually forfeits the entire ticket, so even a late cancellation is better than none.

  3. Cancel through your booking account

Use the My Bookings area or your confirmation link so the cancellation is registered against your booking reference immediately and a timestamp exists.

  4. Save the cancellation confirmation

You'll receive a cancellation email — keep it. It confirms the date of cancellation, which determines which fees applied and starts the refund clock.

  5. Expect deductions on voluntary cancellations

Airline cancellation fees and agency service fees typically apply when you cancel by choice. The refund quote should itemise them.

  6. Track the refund afterwards

Refunds follow the standard timeline — often several weeks because the airline holds the funds. If you also bought cancellation cover, file that claim separately with your policy documents.
